Fostered in Woodbury, NJ
Penelope was rescued from behind a grocery store in a snow storm, along with several other cats. VERY shy, but sweet too, the rescue group decided to work with her and see if maybe she could be a nice house cat for someone.
Penelope is afraid of people, and spends a lot of her time in a little bed in a closet. However, she is coming out more and more and learning to trust. She LOVES cat treats!
As you can see, Penelope's right ear is missing its "tip". When rescuers do a TNR (trap-neuter-return) project, the tip of the cats' ear will be cut like this as the universal sign that the cat is fixed and vaccinated should it ever be trapped again. For information on TNR, check out the "Caring for Feral Cats" section of our website.
